  1. And as an ex-EPC assessor that's precisely why an EPCbefore sale is utterly pointless as nobody can be bothered improving efficiency when there's a new kitchen to fit or a drive to blockpave. Things may have changed in the last few years but when I was doing EPCs early on in the scheme it was a complete waste of a sellers money. I'd hope buyers now take at least a bit of notice of the ratings and how easy/hard it would be to improve.
  2. Just put a gentle fall on the horizontal pipe same as you would on a waste pipe. It’s only water that flows down it - add gravity and it’ll work fine.
  3. I used 21.5 push fit overflow pipe - used for boiler condensate etc - straight out of the unit, added four elbows to form a little U bend with maybe a two inch high water seal, and then I dropped the pipework down into a bathroom soil pipe. Little bit of silicone to hold it together and make sure it’s airtight. It’s been running 15 years, no problems. Maybe twice I’ve chucked a bit of bleach in the base of the unit when I’ve had the heat ex out for cleaning, other than that zero maintenance. I don’t know what a hepvo valve is but I’d guess it does the same job - keeping smells out.
  4. I fitted ours about 15 years ago. One of the best things we’ve done - minimal mould to date - but it was never professionally set up or balanced or anything clever like that. Fully variable fan speed is very useful so you can dial it down if you want, and fine tune with screw in/screw out duct outlets. Access to as many ductwork fluff-storage dead spots as possible would be useful- we have a shower room extract line that I now know I can’t get to if I needed to without replastering. I extended the ribbon cabling on our Stork main unit control panel and fitted the display to the landing wall so I can see the fan speed, whether it’s in boost etc - useful as we have pull switches for time delay boost mode next to the two showers.
  5. It’ll be interesting to see what happens when a fair chunk of Scottish voters realise the SNP have made their houses unsaleable. A solid walled 1900’s house would need tens of thousands to get up to a C. A new ashp to replace the boiler won’t be enough. Either they come up with 10-20k grants for PV, EWI etc, or they’ll be voted out. Just look at Uxbridge and ULEZ…
  6. Morning, I’ve just registered to learn more about solar PV. I did use the Navitron and other forums years ago when I did our thermal store, stove, solar thermal etc - this forum seems to get a lot of PV traffic (current?!) so look forward to many dumb questions…
