We have quickstep silent walk underlay and 8mm laminate over it. Has a total r value of 0.065. I was really mindful of what we chose as the floor covering. Tiles would have been better but I was concerned about if we ever need to replace them we’d damage the boards unless we put a leveler down first. Our weather comp heat curve is set to 35oC Flow at -3oC outside, 21oC internal. Heat loss I calculate somewhere around 40w/m2.

We have Wunda 20mm overlay boards on an insulated suspended floor and they work well with our heat pump. Highly doubt it saves 50% energy cost over rads! That said, the general warmth in the house is lovey compared to previous houses we’ve had rads which seem to have uneven heat across the room.

Ours is under the insulation but we do notice on very cold days some loss of temperature. It’s a degree or two.

We have micro cement worktops, they’re fairly heat resistant, I wouldn’t put a pan straight of the hob on it though. In terms of staining, I believe the product we used is somewhat inferior and does stain with things like very deep reds if left on the surface. Washing up liquid does lift most staining out. We also have one rust stain from leaving a stainless bowl on the surface with a small amount of surface water under it. I’d probably not use it again on the worktop, but in our bathroom it is grand because there’s nothing to stain it.

This is useful should I ever need to repair ours! We had a fan failure on ours and Nuaire replaced both fans and pcb under warranty due to no longer being able to supply to same fan.

Hello, We're about to install Wunda underfloor heating 20mm panels. They're suggesting to put an underlay between the boards and the laminate, but this has a tog rating of 0.5 which seems high given we've intentionally selected a laminate with 0.8 tog rating. How necessary is it to use an underlay on these types of UFH heating panels? Is there any benefit? If it is necessary, can anybody suggest an underlay with a lower tog rating for UFH? Thanks!

Hello, I'm a long time lurker, but first time poster. We're planning installing an MVHR in our bungalow which we have been working to retrofit airtightness as much as possible. When retrofitting an MVHR is it notifiable under building regulations? I plan to self install, with my electrician doing the electrical connection during our rewire. We're not undertaking any other 'building work', but do plan to replace a few doors and windows which will require a visit from the BCO as a non-fensa registered builder relative will be installing them for us. We don't intent to have trickle vents in the new windows so don't want to get caught up after install during the BCO visit for the windows. I'll be giving them a call over the coming week but figured someone may have similar experiences. If it is notifiable work, am I right in that they will just require a commissioning report which I can complete myself? Thank you!
