  1. I know this is an old thread but some people (like me, might have the same problem ) but according to this Government documentation.. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/how-to-switch-your-bulk-liquified-petroleum-gas-supplier/advice-on-switching-bulk-lpg-supplier see "What happens to the LPG tank when you switch?" "You should not be charged for the removal of existing tanks."
  2. Is there a link to where I can find this in the regulations please? Thanks in advance.
  3. Can anyone give me a price idea please for plaster boarding and plastering the four walls and ceilings of two small rooms - 2.1m x 2.4m and 2.1m x 2.15m plus the ceiling only of a third room 4m x 1.6 Thanks in advance.
  4. Would anyone have a link to a step by step guide to the submission process please? TIA Iain
  5. Based on our AC system in the US (where Daikin - who we'd never heard of when we renewed our whole AC system some years ago - are highly respected ) we can't recommend Daikin highly enough and will be installing a Daikin hybrid (ASHP + LPG) system in our new house in the UK. Price is one thing but cost of ownership is another?
  6. Thanks for both replies. After on site discussions today, the consensus from two trusted installers is to use a separate lpg boiler for the smaller unit. We do have 3ph on site but that complicates things if we went for an industrial installation. As someone said "keep it simple, stupid" (me, not anyone else). Thanks again.
  7. Advice much appreciated please. The house we are building will have hybrid ASHP/LPG powered under floor heating. Using the same equipment can I also heat a separate (180M2 with garage, workshop and 2 offices) which is 30m away from the dwelling - or will I need (or would it be best to have) a separate boiler? Thanks in advance.
  8. Thanks. Very pleased to find you again. A great forum. Now you can see for yourself ^^^^^ "Really hope you like them" (American for couldn't give a f***)! Not in contact with other members because until recently I was just a "lurker" / dreamer. Now it's for real....
  9. At the moment I only have photos of the existing buildings so I hope initial 3D drawings are ok? Photos to follow as work progresses. Unit 1 (working title "The Old Grain Store" ) 440M2 plus Mezzanine, all 3 / 3 / 3 black trapezoidal steel insulated panels. All polished concrete floors on ground floor. Hybrid ASHP / LPG with UFH heating to ground floor. Radiators to 1st floor. All internals block. Existing slab ("excellent condition") and steel portals retained. Prior Approval obtained. Agribarn 1 (aka "The old Stables") - 198M2, block & beam with double block plus 150mm insulation walls, Slate roof, wood cladding, brick plinth. Hybrid ASHP / LPG boiler with UFH. Permitted development Agricultural to C3 approved.
  10. Hi, We're near the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire borders - not far from Kimbolton.
  11. Being a mere dreamer of building our own property I had previously been a regular visitor to the eBuild forum and was disappointed by it's closure, so whilst doing a recent t'interweb search for Larsen trusses, I was really pleased to find this forum and offer my sincere thanks to all involved in achieving the resurrection. My previous eBuild name was Eyefor and I had asked many questions and gathered very welcome advice on planning procedures, Architects, build methods etc - all of which were asked on the basis of "soon, we would find a plot" but having looked for over 10 years in our area we were near to giving up and buying a ready built. Our son and his partner then showed an interest in a fairly local farmhouse that had adjacent (but definitely separate) barns having both agricultural and industrial (B1) uses classification that gave us concerns for the long term future of his property, should he buy it. Long story short... They bought the farmhouse in September 2017 and in October 2017 we completed on the 5 barns (total 11,000+ Sq ft) plus 2.9 acres of paddocks without planning permissions but to us, it was a no-lose basis because, although they might make us a nice dwelling, our primary reason for buying them was to protect our son and his partners interest. Earlier this year, using (superb) planning specialists we submitted applications under permitted development Class Q for change of use to a dwelling on a 2000 sq ft agricultural barn and prior approval for a dwelling under class PA for the 4800 sq ft main barn. Both were approved in July. Lots to think about and lots to do in the forthcoming months (and years) but I will be regularly visiting the forum in search of ideas (and help!).
