First Big Pour Day
WiltshireLink replied to WiltshireLink's topic in Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF)
We are using Nudura but to be honest I'm sure it can happen with whatever system. Cheers for the words, the pump guy was superb today, I was really on the floor after weeks of ups and downs, he got me going and we got 2 big walls done and concreted a big gable window steel in, so managed to salvage some goodness -
Well we had our big pour today... Nervous all week. Had a big blowout on the corner...twice! Same corner, 4 blocks gone. Others bits stayed up when I thought they wouldn't. Will have to do the other walls another day. Learnt alot today. I would definitely recommend strap, brace and brace the corners again and again!

Did you use a carrier board? How much stone have you had to cut!? How did you go about cutting it? Ta

Steels inside the block?!
WiltshireLink replied to WiltshireLink's topic in Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF)
My S.E has overspecified IMO but it's his head on the block so..its the way it is. The steels span big openings, over bifolds/sliders, garage opening so over 4.5m Cheers for the tips! -
Hi All, getting there slowly, now the bit I can't get my head around! Using Nudura, our S.E. has specified this..for openings. Above will be the nudura block and walls. How do I do this? Any ideas? I will need to prop it obviously but surely the weight will crush the EPS underneath? Cheers

Nudura Cast-in-Place Ledgers....
WiltshireLink replied to Mulberry View's topic in Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF)
No, not advised to do that -
Nudura Cast-in-Place Ledgers....
WiltshireLink replied to Mulberry View's topic in Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF)
sorry to be thick, but why have you put 4x1 on the outside? Is that over the bolt to stop it being pushed out during pour? I was thinking of putting the ledger in before pour but advised it means setting up the prop system becomes more fiddly! -
Nudura Cast-in-Place Ledgers....
WiltshireLink replied to Mulberry View's topic in Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF)
so did you have the ledger in place for pour or just the bolts held in with some temporary wood? -

ICF wall hangers - Lavann..
WiltshireLink replied to Big Neil's topic in Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF)
Sorry if I missed it, but what size anchor bolts did you use? I just got some 9x2 boards and my god they're heavy! Did you hang them before pour of set the bolts with a bit of board and then attach the board once set? -

Did you brace vertically on the inside too? -
Wind Problems...
WiltshireLink replied to WiltshireLink's topic in Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF)
perfect thats what I was thinking cheers! -
Hi All, No it's not sprout related... We have been progressing well with the Nudura but this wind is causing havoc. We haven't got scaffold or alignment system yet as we weren't that high but getting blocks up to the near joist level and the wind is just blowing it over or off the DPC block. Would the scaffold/alignment really combat the wind? Any tips? I thought about bracing it vertically to the concrete filled DPC level to strengthen it Cheers

Cutting Nudura at angles
WiltshireLink replied to WiltshireLink's topic in Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF)
From memory, you can turn it over as its useable 180° -
Hi everyone, Been really cracking on with my build after Isotex balls up and im loving the Nudura, what a great product. I'm fast approaching my ground floor pour and I'm thinking ahead to the gables, I have an attached garage so it will come along fairly soon. I have a 42° pitch, anyone have any tips on cutting the block best at that angle and also how to measure out the angle? A big protractor?! Cheers

Sorry, I should have said also, construction, we have no demolition to do. I would also say, I know that it is technically a breach of a condition but wondered how they would prove/deal with it? What constitutes noise or normal DIY noise? They knew this was a self build
-
Well, after 14 months and some mitigation help ££ we made it through planning, i notice on the conditions, they have put a restriction in for days/times for demolition to happen. Being self builders, obviously weekends and evenings is when we will do this. I don't think we would have many issues locally but does any one have any experience of this and how it's enforced? Cheers

Insulhub Isotex Voluntary Liquidation
WiltshireLink replied to Surfiejim's topic in Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF)
So my conundrum is we have lost the deposit but not had any blocks delivered. So with Isotexs offer, it looks like we would take a smaller hit financially but the risk is having little support during the build. We could move to another system but in people's own experiences how tricky has this system been to build, I am a competent person but would not want to go in building this blind. Thanks
