  1. Should Aluminium windows be fitted directly to steel beams or have wood of other material between?
  2. I have steel beam on the outside skin. Thinking of Aluminium windows above and below. I'm thinking if inner part of widow frame touches flange of beam then thermal bridging in the frame is lost. Maybe encase beam with insulation? So how best to insulate beam? TIA
  3. Steel Beam bottom plate alignment. Fabricators draftsman has allowed 25mm above adjoining soffit for packing/insulation. My question is how is insulation or packing fixed to steel plate???? to level up with existing soffit. Any comments welcome, Thanks
  4. Hi to everyone and thanks for adding me on Buildhub. I have a background in engineering and am an ardent DIYer in many areas, I live in Dorset and I'm currently self building a single story extension to the rear of our bungalow. Its just under 40m2 with a lot of steelwork. Foundations are in, steels are on site and I’m starting to erect the first few. I’m sure there many questions I will ask along the way and will try to offer my experience to anyone else. Here's a 3D steelwork Drawing.
