  1. I hope this update will be of interest? We have finished the build but for some small details 😃. I bought a modern stove from Kratki , it will wait for winter before connection , it is 35 C here ! I have 2x A/C units fitted so am working in a comfortable 25 C . I have installed a full off grid PV system which is running the A/ C and there is still a surplus of energy 😁 . In fact the growatt inverters shut down occasionally as we are not using enough of our generated power , (open to suggestions here ) The build was challenging for the locals ,who know not the world of Passiv Haus , but we have ticked most of the boxes . It took exactly 1 year to build , on a Greek island , so much more of a challenge especially during the covid situation. The house retains the cool temp overnight , it's a pleasure to walk in at 0800!
  2. I used a wall and put a fence on top which gave the perfect angle to mount the panels . Locally @ 37 degrees
  3. , You have probably sited this by now , but ... would it be a good idea to place it "downwind " , away from the house ? This because of the noise they can generate , as if it were sited upwind the noise would carry toward the house ? I know thhis is apparent in siting of generators .

  9. Yes I wanted a big system with 3+ days autonomy, as there is no grid going in anywhere near us and its for a house and workshop ! Usage per day is well under 3 kw
  10. Thanks , for the feedback guys . I made all the hook ups with one panel disconnected. the system is 11.2kw from Rosensolar , it comprises : 28x 400watt pv panels 2x DC combiner boxes with breakers , switches 2x Growatt SPF 5000 TL HVM WPV P 5 kw inverters 1x battery combiner box 3x life po4 48v /200 ah batteries. I hope you find this interesting ? I am treading carefully here and really happy to hear your comments , thank you . The first question is can a solar rated 10 mm2 cable be used from the combiner boxes to the inverters over a 36 metre run ? Graham

  12. I just came across this thread , thankfully, I am just installing an off grid system for a new house . I tested the output of 7 panel , 4 X strings and all 4 string were producing over 300 volts , total output 1280+ volts , this on a partially sunny day . I have to take this power to the " power station" steel shed so am looking at suitable cable . The highest solar rated cable found is 10 mm2 . Does this cable size have enough capacity for this voltage ? I have tried some if the online converters but there are big variations.
