Tony C Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 We have opted for Private building control, as the layout of the house has complication over the fire regulation. But we are thinking to switch over to Local Authority building control to save money. So effectively the Private building control take care the Full Plans stage , and Local Authority building control take care the Inspection Inspection stage. Has anyone done this before? Any thoughts?
PeterW Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 Unlikely that will be allowed. The plans piece would have to be done again at cost. Are we talking more than £3-500 saving as tbh my experience of private is better than LA however others have had good LA experiences. 1
Tony C Posted February 3, 2019 Author Posted February 3, 2019 It would be £2.5k saving. I have to talk to my architect as they have to do extra work over the Full plan stage with LA building control.
PeterW Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 How much ... ..???? Are you sure that doesn’t include warranty inspections ..??
Jeremy Harris Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 Seems very high to me. IIRC we paid LABC somewhere around £700, for a full plans submission with build inspections (no warranty though).
Tony C Posted February 3, 2019 Author Posted February 3, 2019 Its for 2 houses, but still expensive...
