ceilingfish
Hello, I'm Tom, and I've just moved to Holmfirth, which is a beautiful green valley in Yorkshire. I got interested in house building when I was speaking to an estate agent and she mentioned that a nearby farmer would be willing to sell some of his land. Sadly after later speaking to a builder I was told that all of the land is greenbelt, so all but impossible to build on. To be honest that was about as far as I got, I figured at that point there was no point pursuing the matter further.
Tyke2
You need to look at the local development plan to see what the land is designated as. Speaking to a builder is unlikely to get you the right planning advice. I think there are a few plots with planning approval for sale in Holmfirth. Simon Blyth were selling some I think?? ceilingfish
Thanks tyke Ah OK so there are a list of designated areas that can and can't be developed? OK that's interesting. My wife really wants to live in a nearby village called Brockholes, but it's really little, and there's not much for sale! I'll have a look for the development plans near there Thanks again Tom
Onoff
Holmfirth! Where I was introduced to heavy drinking as a 16 year old apprentice! Hurlimanns...mmmm! Used to stay in a pub up above the village...the Fox or something. Good luck anyway!
