5mm expansion gap / upstand end cap help

So I fitted the 4m oak worktop and up stand which went well thanks to the users of Buildhub ?  but now at either end I have to somehow smarten things up a bit, how do the pro's go about it?

Our decorator (I hate painting!) used a coloured caulk in the slightly wavy gap between stairs and wall, the stairs are oak and it’s worked very well. The caulk will “give” and can be replaced if necessary.

You could return mitre the upstand . The gap between the W/T and wall use matching  mastic as suggested.
