So,

Required Lead for my valleys and soaker costs £950 or so + my time to learn how to shape it, plus cutting etc

for circa half he money I can purchase a GRP alternative, ready formed

Has anyone used a similar product? are they horrendous, acceptable or somewhere in between?

through in another alternative - aluminium

Would match the dry verge I'm planning on using.. but will it look crap.

A bit different, we are having stainless valleys between the stainless and slate same material as this house:-

We have 4x kytun dry verge in slate grey surplus, we ordered same in RAL7016 to match windows so  dont need the grey ones now if of any interest?

We used pre-formed GRP valleys.  If using slate, I found that the type with the upstand in the centre look much neater, as the cut edges can be abutted to the upstand, making the valley less obtrusive looking.  I still have two grey GRP normal valley sections (i.e. not the ones with the centre upstand) left over, as we had the wrong type supplied, so if anyone wants them they can have them if they collect them.

This is what ours look like with the upstand bit in the centre:

FWIW, the two lengths of GRP valley that I have going spare, if anyone wants them, are exactly the same in @Tin Soldier's first link, but they wouldn't be my first choice for a slate roof, as I think the raised upstand tends to hide the valley a bit better, and doesn't leave the edges of the cut slates on show.
