In summary, we are having a remodelling and new kitchen and as such need to remove part of our solid oak flooring which was installed 10 years ago. Trying to match like for like has been difficult but we’ve found one which is really close and looks pretty much the same, however it is brushed and oiled and I think ours is lacquered. Oddly, the lacquered version is much darker so is nowhere near a match.

question is, if we sand it all once installed and then apply the same finish (lacquer presumably), would that work to give it the same finish? It will never be the same as full replacement but this isn’t feasible financially or in the time we have.

any advice much appreciated
