For a house on an estate which is built and sold off but not yet adopted, how does one go about creating a crop kerb for a second driveway?

Would I need to ask the developer who is no longer on the estate, or is it:

1 - Check with the Highways Authority that it is not adopted.

2 - Do it.

(The standard approach round here is just to remove the fence and drive over the kerb, going back 30 or 40 years. And the LHA just sit on their butt, as is their habit. This is not Lambeth or seomwhere where any attention is paid.)

Thanks.

Hmmmm.

Highways confirm - with a single phone call remarkably and handled by the first contact at the County Council - that the road is not adopted at this point, and confirm that it may involve a decade of nitpicking negotiations to get it adopted.

A chat with a Groundworks company suggests that - this being the case - they think they can rock up and JFDI.

Interesting.

I'd be looking to seek forgiveness, not ask for permission here! Opening that can of worms of permissions and approvals l will take months and months and months and months.....

And you'll likely have to pay a load of money to these gimps for doing the square root of feck all, for the pleasure.

Same as with anyone who approaches me to do a new build, if there's big trees that would prevent solar PV being effective. Chop the thing down on day 1 before Bill Odie slaps TPO's on everything in sight. Then, once established, you can re-plant to return the balance of nature, whilst reducing your carbon footprint.

One client just dropped a tree whilst we wait for permission to be approved for a knockdown and rebuild, and the guy got complaints that the tree created a calm feeling and now it's gone they were sad and anxious and upset and all the rest of the bollocks that went with it.

For completeness, the complainant just happens to have a huge front lawn and zero trees, but is perturbed that a tree in the front garden of next door has been removed..... "Go buy yourself a Willow tree, plant it in your front garden so the light is blocked out of your living room, or STFU". Some people are just incurable muppets.

My neighbour had a bloody great conifer in his front garden - far to big for the space - completely blocked the light to his front room. He never pruned it or even topped it. I asked him several times to trim it but he refused.

It also meant my side gate and his side gate weren't visible from the road and a low lifer decided he'd gain access to my back garden and break in thro the French doors.

As a result I pointed out to him that his house would probably be next and he'd probably need to get a better back gate. shortly after  he had it removed but not before the cheeky bugger asked me if I'd go halves on the cost
