Scaffolding - render residue

Hi 

We are dismantling the scaffolding next week and are a little worried that we will be charged a "cleaning free". This hasn't been mentioned anywhere in our agreement with the scaffolding company, but our renderers have left a residue on many of the boards. We will do our best to clean the boards ourselves, but we don't want to get too vigorous and splash our lovely new render. 

If I get a fee, fair everything, but just wondering whether anyone else has encountered this.

No.  Unless there is an inch of render on the boards.  A lot of stuff comes off when they are flipped over.

Do NOT clean the boards off near your new render!!

 

Leave the Scaff guys take them down and they’ll just bang off the excess as they go. It’s another day in the office for them, so chill out

It’s how us Welsh folk emphasise.

As the scaffold boys drop the boards down you can take the worst off easily with one of these

I was worried about exactly the same issue last year when our scaffold was ready to come down. The brickies particularly had left loads of red dust and crap all over the boards. other stuff as well.

The boards looked horrendous.

As Nick says, the scaffolders just expect it and knock the worst off anyway.

You’d get get beaten up by the scaffolders, if you asked them to wait whilst you scraped off each board! 🤣
