CourierTheBold Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Hi all. I'm hoping someone here will be able to advise. My partner and I are looking at building our dream home. We have a decent budget in place and have a good idea of what we want. Ideally we would like a single point of contact that would be able to handle the following: Finding a plot to build Planning permissions Architecture Primary contractors on site (build and first fix) Utility connection We have limited experience of large construction projects but I project managed a major renovation and loft conversion and have PM experience from my IT career (so some transferrable skills). Ideally I'd like to arrange some discussions with a handful of "turnkey" providers or similar to discuss quotes, next steps etc. Can anyone advise? Thanks all.

Do your own leg work. 17 minutes ago, CourierTheBold said: Planning permissions Architecture Primary contractors on site (build and first fix) Utility connection Get the right architect they will handle that for you. Turnkey and to first fix are very different. Turnkey you give them an empty site, you then move your furniture in. First fix is generally before any plasterboard has been installed. Lots of work to do after 1st fix
saveasteading Posted January 13 Posted January 13 It's normally better to buy a finished house where you miss out the years of problems and the risks. Value wise, turnkey will be expensive too, and seldom any saving compared to buying a finished property to move into and enjoy. Self build and diy may reduce the cost but increase the risk.
DownSouth Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Are you after a custom build house? Usually a few houses on a plot, different styles, some variation between neighbouring houses and you can specify some changes and decor/kitchen/bathroom spec. They do services, planning, building regs, build. What area/s are you looking at?
