Waggie15 Posted Monday at 22:17 Posted Monday at 22:17 I’m after some advice. As a private home owner I’ve had a set of French doors with additional side windows fitted, the installers have fitted the glazing bars on the doors on the inside and the glass side panels to the outside. Which is correct. I was always told all glazing should be inside for security reasons.
markc Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Do you mean the glazing bars or the capping strips that retain the glass? Glass on outside keeps windows cleaner and easier to clean. In the past when glass panes were smaller, glass would go in from outside and finished / sealed with putty.
craig Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago (edited) Context, would need to see a picture of what you are referring to, as @markc as said, is it actual glazing bars (astragals/georgian feature bars) or is it the glazing beads that retain the glass. Glazing beads can be internal and external, it's a lot to do with the system in used but it would be unusual for them to be inside and outside on the same unit. Where the sides coupled (i.e. seperate to the french doors)? If yes, then side windows would "appear" to be on the wrong way around. Edited 9 hours ago by craig
