The graphing statistics that i can get out of the 'my vaillant connect' gateway app are not very sophisticated. But they do appear to show some interesting results so far. For those of you that have a Vaillant Arotherm, do you make use of the data and over a longer period do you find the data accurate enough to be of benefit?

I monitor it from time to time through home assistant (which solves the graphing problem) more than I do on the app.

It's definitely interesting, but I'm not sure I can honestly say I have made changes to my settings as a result.  That said my system worked well from day 1.  If it hadn't I don't doubt the data as presented in HA would be very useful in diagnosis.  It does provide handy real time information on OAT though, which has uses beyond heat pumps.

I can't comment particularly definitely on accuracy.  The electricity consumption appears to be good, heat delivered is definitely in the right ball park, but I can't be certain to better than perhaps 20%.  I would expect temperatures to be pretty good but have no evidence to back this up.

The reason for me asking is the 'efficiency' tab and associated graph say 5.49

If this relates to a COP then i will be over the moon.

I dont yet have any other monitoring installed and have been trying to decide which way to go.

Electricity Used appears to agree with the dedicated meter in the CU. Ppl on the Arotherm Plus FB group say the heat generated (and hence CoP) are not very accurate compared with energymon.

Vaillant have not been able to fix the live power consumption figure on my app which is usually stuck on a standby consumption reading like 11W.

I find the app is more convenient for changing the settings than the SensoComfort control which is very clunky. I have added an indicator light panel so I can see at a glance which of the three circuits are actively providing heat.

From a purely empirical point of view, which method is the reference?

Or for that matter any other method. How does anyone determine which is the more accurate?

energymon

This system is all Class 2 certified, so could be used as a sales meter if you wanted, for both input and output energy - so very accurate. Would expected the energy output side the Vaillant (dT, flow and return temp, and flow rate) are all industrial quality so way less accurate, electrical input may be class 2 certified on the Vaillant.

But if you can plot either system (enerymon or Vaillant) you will get like for like comparisons, so you can compare any changes you make, for real conclusions of, is this better or worse than before.
