I'm having a new resin driveway installed. The brick borders are going up quite high to the plinth level of front of house. Should the brick borders be further below 150mm for dpc purposes? Does the plinth I have offer any protection for damp?

Also the acro drain is there as I have a slope on the driveway going down slightly to the front door, hence the aco is there. They connected it to a soakaway in the middle of drive. Would you say aco drain is positioned in driveway correctly or should it be nearer door?

Also lastly I opened the aco drain cover and neither sides have end caps, is this a issue even when having a resin driveway installed?

I can probably get changes made as resin has not been laid yet...

So is all the driveway drainage going in to the aco in the middle there and then to a soak away? Where does the water go when the aco and soak away are overwhelmed? I hope there is flow to the road? Otherwise your house will flood.

BC would not accept our patio drainage for that reason, we had to install a separate set of drains incase the primary got blocked or overwhelmed. And indeed, it's happened once that i know of.

And agree with Jimbo, you're going to have damp issues all along the front there. An alternative is to install an aco channel drain all along the edge of the house, rather than the bricks. No caps on channel is fine if thet are up against something solid. Would be an issue if loose material could collapse in.

Hi conor

The driveway is permeable concrete and will have a resin top which is permeable to allow water to drain. The aco drain was put in there as measure because the driveway has a slope towards the door. The flow out of the driveway isn't good onto the road because say road is straight but there is then slope down to my front door at a slight angle.

I will speak to them about the aco drains at the front, I take it they will need to be 150mm below dpc as well if they are put where the bricks are?

So no caps on the end of channel is fine? I threw water into them to test drainage and along the ends water flowed out onto the bricks,  but in the middle it drained down the pipe towards soakaway

How far is the soakaway from the boundary, and from your building and any neighbouring buildings?

5m from my boundary

And at least the same from any buildings (incl your own)?

Thanks! Good! Not least as it suggests the contractor is on the ball re guidance - except perhaps for the level at the house. It's difficult, isn't it? We all know BC recommend 150mm below DPC, and ditto that no-one told the rain in many areas that it should only splash up 150. But we also know we need not to fall into a trench as we open our front door! If it were me and I wasn't ever intending to wear stilettos (and nor were any of my potential visitors) I think I would do the drain much lower, with a 'boot-scraper'-type grating over the top at the desired 'pedestrian level'.

This shows slope of driveway bit better though not a great pic. Problem dealing with slope. is downwards towards doors.

My main concern was obviously I k ow its going above dpc. But if its kept 150mm below dpc this makes the slope deeper again at door. Before at front it was just covered in pebbles.

Other concern was no end caps on each end of acro drain, but being told that's ok as its sitting against solid paving stone?

When you say the soakaway is > 5m from your boundary I think you mean the front one. Having seen your latest pic I'd guess your house to be about 5-5.5m wide (?) and I believe the required distance from boundaries to be 2.5m minimum, so depending on the surface area of the soakaway, if my estimate is anywhere near right, you could be close to the limit side-to-side. In any case I doubt anyone is going to quibble unless your neighbour objected anyway.

But if you used my 'grating' idea  you could keep the level well below the DPC, keep the aco drain at the bottom of the 'trench' and still lead any water away to the soakaway.
