How to fill and vent without isolation valves

Hi Everyone!

 

First time posting here, I’ve been searching online but can’t seem to find a clear answer anywhere!

 

I’m trying to fill and vent my underfloor heating (UFH) system, which seems like a fairly straightforward DIY job. However, when I checked my manifold, it looks like there aren’t any isolation valves.

 

My question is: can I still fill the UFH system with water using a connected hose, or is that not possible without the valves closed off?
If not, is there another method you’d recommend?

 

I’ve attached a couple of photos for reference, but happy to share more details if needed.

Are there any isolation valves near your boiler you can use? 

 

But water will take the path of least resistance, so will be more likely to flow through open loops instead of the through a mixing valve the wrong way.

 

I would just go for it, it will be ok or it won't, if it doesn't work there is always a plan B.

Looks very much like you have a manifold like this:

The ports on the far right are fill/drain valves I think.

@JohnMo - thanks! I will have a look at the boiler just to check if there are any shut off valves. 

 

I'm going to give it a go today and see what happens! Out of curiosity what would be plan B?
