Lincolnshire Ian Posted Wednesday at 05:20 Posted Wednesday at 05:20 Hi everyone My clumsy scaffolders haven't been treating the breather membrane on the external face of our frame with the same reverence as the timber frame erectors and we have some minor damage. Should I repair this with "breather membrane tape", does it exist, or is there another way to repair tears? Thank you.
crispy_wafer Posted Wednesday at 06:58 Posted Wednesday at 06:58 I guess it depends on the damage, repair could be just tape, or cutting a patch of membrane to cover the damage and tape up the edges. Breather membrane tape is available, cant advise of which would be best for you though.
Roundtuit Posted Wednesday at 08:20 Posted Wednesday at 08:20 (edited) Probably just tape the small bits. For anything bigger, I believe the recommended fix is to slit the membrane horizontally above the damage, slide a patch up and in so that the top of the patch is on the inside of the membrane and the bottom of the patch is on the outside to shed moisture, and then tape in place.
