I provide the architectural and do builds as well, regarding rooflights we always use Velux with triple glazing and we find installing the Velux blinds for the home owner a real benefit

I have to ask about the exterior 'screen'? Don't you feel it interferes with the views?

 

Lovely corner windows, great views, and then you look out onto (into) the additional timber screens.

The slats are more open where the main windows are. 
 

if you walk up a street in a new housing development just as barratt homes most houses have blinds or shutters closed most of the day to stop people staring in. 

the new building regs are going to make you have shading over your windows anyway
