marmic Posted Thursday at 19:16 Posted Thursday at 19:16 Evening all, We need to fix barge boards and fascias direct to horizontal timber cladding. If cladding is feather edge (visually our current preference) there isn't a flat surface to connect to - is that a problem or am I overthinking this? (if we use a lapped cladding it will be flat). any thoughts appreciated please many thanks
JamesP Posted Thursday at 19:31 Posted Thursday at 19:31 (edited) I made and fitted the fascia boards first before fixing the horizontal Douglas fir cladding. Does that help? Edited Thursday at 19:32 by JamesP
Temp Posted yesterday at 00:01 Posted yesterday at 00:01 Lot of solutions.. Fix something like a 2"x2" batten to the wall then clad upto it. The soffit fits to the underside of the batten. If the cladding is already done then fit a strip of cladding upside down and that will give a vertical face to fix the square 2x2 batten onto. Either that or run 2x2 through a table saw to put the correct angle on it. If you need a ventilation slot where soffit meets cladding... Ive seen someone fix "triangles" to the bottom of the rafters to give a horizontal edge to fix to. You might already have enough bits of scrap rafter left over from cutting them to the angle at the ridge.
