Hels13 Posted Thursday at 19:43 Posted Thursday at 19:43 Evening all, I've just had a new patio laid, and I keep finding little snags. One issue I'm not sure about though, is whether they've left enough of a gap between the patio and the vent at the base of my house. I'm not sure what the regs are, but I'm worried that water will drain in easily and start to cause damp issues. Does this look OK, or should I be concerned? Thanks, Helen
Nickfromwales Posted Thursday at 23:00 Posted Thursday at 23:00 It's less than great.... Ideally you need a gravel trap in front of the vent so that water instantly drop before getting to the vent, so the tile needs to be cut in situ, or removed and replaced.
Dave Jones Posted yesterday at 07:28 Posted yesterday at 07:28 We wrapped a vertical DPC around the whole perimeter of our house exactly because of this issue. costs peanuts and does away with the '150 below damp' problem as it effectively shifts the DPC 225mm higher than normal. Allows for a full level threshold all the way round the house if needed. The air vent in your picture is to vent the underside of the block and beam so nothing to worry about with water going down it. Soaking the DPC on a continuous basis may be an issue though.
FarmerN Posted yesterday at 07:28 Posted yesterday at 07:28 We put an ACO drain channel in along wall in a similar situation, seems ok so far.
