New screed, should I seal it?

Hello,

 

I have a new screeded floor in my house. It is traditional screed (sand and cement) which is also reinforced with fibers. It has been drying for the last two months. Im planning to put down laminate flooring on it, but Im not sure if I should seal it first in order to reduce the dust and to protect its surface?

I read online that people recommend sealing concrete based screeds with diluted SBR or with PVA but Im not sure that is true for traditional screeds.

I've always had S&C screeds put down by my excellent screeder, and I only ever seal them if we're tiling or bonding a floor down.

 

There is little to no dust associated with a S&C screed, usually anything on the surface is from cutting plasterboards etc on site (dust/debris) which you can manage with a good vacuum.

 

If the laminate is a floating floor, I'd not waste the time/money tbh.

I've called the company who laid it and they basically said the same.

if your going for LVT will need smoothing compound.
