Cookie Posted Thursday at 17:32 Posted Thursday at 17:32 Hi All - Our self build is 'dry' now, everything complete on the external and moving on to the internal first fix. It has been dry inside for at least 6 months as we had a delay due to funds. In a couple of bedrooms, there is mould on the floorboards and some battens. I know why - the roof was not sealed properly for a long while (roofing delays and discussion) and water pooled in these areas for an extended period. However - do I need to do anything now? Builder says this is fine and doesn't need replacing. But should I treat the wood with an anti-mould paint? Or vinegar as one would to normally clean it off. I just feel weird about just leaving it. Thanks in advance!
Temp Posted Thursday at 22:26 Posted Thursday at 22:26 I'd probably just spray it with some diluted bleach. Long time ago Tesco sold thin bleach very cheap but they seem to have stopped selling it. Whatever you use watch out for builders walking on it then your best carpet/wood floor.
Nickfromwales Posted Friday at 14:42 Posted Friday at 14:42 Yup. Thin down some bleach, load up a pump/spray bottle and soak the affected areas. 👍
