Mk555blue Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Hi everyone. We’re replacing a leaking flat roof on a small extension and need to decide between a lean to or gable end roof. Cost is mostly the deciding factor, is there a clear winner? Any other things to consider with this that i may not have thought of? thanks.
Mr Punter Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Gable might look nicer. I assume this is single storey onto a 2 storey. Any windows or awkward bits above? A photo would help a lot.
madilyn Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago I recently changed the leaking flat roof of the outbuildings and finally chose lean-to, because the beam is shorter, less materials and easier to work with, which means it’s cheaper. Gable end gives better lighting and ventilation of the attic, but higher fronton, more labor-intensive and requires additional grating. Check the height of the house, slope for water drainage, snow loads and if you need permission documentation, then it will be clear whether the difference is worth.
