OldieNewbie Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Hey all if block work or brickwork is being done with an inner leaf, cavity and outer leaf, does the bond of the outer leaf mirror the internal leaf? so say your building out from a wall and you start with a full block on the inner leaf, should you do the same on the outer leaf? Or should you start with a full block on one side and a half block on the other side?
OldieNewbie Posted March 28 Author Posted March 28 Thanks declan. from observation I have seen work done both ways. The inner leaf bonding mirrors the external leaf i.e both leafs started with a full block. i have also seen it done where a full was used to start one leaf and a half on the other leaf. Is there any reason why that could be? Or is it personal preference of builder or a case of what blocks are near to them?
DannyT Posted Tuesday at 18:34 Posted Tuesday at 18:34 The reason been is that it just does not matter. I’ll build the outside, jump inside and set a block one end and run one through to the other. Your internal dimensions will be 400/500/600mm shorter than the outside due to cavity so bond will be different.
