Geberit in wall frame - connection issue to soil pipe

Featured Replies

I am about to have a go at fitting this frame. The kit comes with the black Geberit 90mm 90 degree bend section and a 110 - 90mm reducer. However annoyingly the reducer 110 end is too thick to slide inside the brown 110 waste pipe. So clearly I need to buy a 110 - 110 straight connector.

I am looking for advice on the best part to buy. There are a couple of issues.....

1 Not much height - I will cut the brown waste lower in line with the wooden sole plate but even then I need space for the straight connector then the reducer then the final bend section

2 The brown soil pipe is slightly off perpendicular. Not by much but a bit.

So ideally I am looking for a straight 110 - 110 then is low in height but has some flex? Would this Mcalpine part be a good solution? https://www.screwfix.com/p/mcalpine-push-fit-single-socket-drain-connector-black-110mm/4255V?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAiaC-BhBEEiwAjY99qPfuSVvVOwOsuArr-2ZoG7XpOUrOIn_Cq0cUdHHYCpGmS8WOWeDXsxoC3OsQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I think this query has @Nickfromwales written all over it!!

No I have yet to fit the frame - I just pushed it in temporarily for the photo. I am awaiting some special L shaped brackets for the top fixings.

You defo don't need a slip coupler, just a regular push fit (double socket) straight coupler. When you start gluing stuff it becomes very unforgiving, very quickly.

The pipe coming up isn't perfectly plumb you say, so the double socket coupler will also give some wiggle room.

Just cut that existing pipe about 50mm above FFL and chamfer the end, and then fit the coupler to it (use some lubricant, Fairy liquid is fine, (other washing up liquids are available)) and then insert the Geberit reducer.

Reinstall the frame at the height you want, and then measure the amount to cut off the angled pan connector. Then remove the frame again. Chamfer the cut end and make sure to de-burr it; it's a much softer plastic so leaves a horrible burr internally from being cut. Cut about 15mm more than is needed so the pan connector can be pushed down, out of the way of the frame clip when reinstalling the frame for the final time, and then you just lift it up into the frame clip and push on the retaining clip and away to go.

@Nickfromwales thats brilliant thanks that's just what I need. One reason I had thought against the double push fit was because there may be insufficient clearance between the brown waste and the plywood behind that you can see in the photo. But of course the solution is to do a cut out from the ply to increase any clearance needed as it will be boarded on the other side anyway.

Excellent now just need to read up on fitting the Alba shower pan and fancy electronic flush plate and we will be good to go.

@Nickfromwales I have finally managed to instal the frame...the only issue is that the fixed drain position we have has meant that the 90 degree elbow only just fitted in the collar on the frame and as you will see is at a slight angle off vertical. I am hoping this isn't a major issue??

You'll JUST get that on imo, so put the pan connector onto that elbow with a bit of silicone lube, and then when you go to fit the pan do the same on the pan outlet as well as the seal on the pan connector. The issue is that the centres between the flush outlet and the soil outlet on the pan are set in porcelain, so you have zero tolerance here other than the flexibility of the rubber seals. On the pan connector you'll have JUST enough wiggle room methinks.

Have you got a pic face on and face/side on plz?

Cool. 👍. Just wanted to double check you’ll have the depth. By the time you board and tile (?) this you’ll be good. Prob on the cusp of getting away with that angle / offset, but it’ll work.
