diarmidR Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Hi all, Does the forum think there would be any benefit to locating the exhaust vent from an MVHR system on the wall just behind an ASHP? In theory it should allow some of the heat to be recycled, and might be particularly useful on days where icing of the ASHP coils might occur. Only downside I can see would be the extra ~£30 for extract 150mm ducting to reach further down the wall... Cheers, Diarmid

Cheers, Diarmid You may end up with a system that moves in and out of balance depending on what the heat pump is doing. Plus the flow from MVHR is at an order magnitude lower than the heat pump, so will little or no impacts. Keep it simple don't overthink it.

It’s been discussed here a few times and there’s just zero advantage tbh, as the escaping heat energy (after the MVHR has scavenged heat to redirect into the house) is minimal at best. Also, you can’t have the MVHR terminal too close to the ASHP intake or you’ll start; a) sucking air out of the house, and b) hearing the ASHP inside the house, as that sound will travel.
diarmidR Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 Thank you both, will cancel this one. Thinking about it more, it might even make icing of the ASHP worse too. Diarmid
