mjc55 Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Anyone used this of late. It looks good in terms of replacing other types of less environmentally friendly insulation but haven't got far enough to look at costs. There was an old thread from around 2019 saying that it needs to be much, much thicker (their emphasis), does this mean that it is much more expensive in the long run? That was pre-pandemic and presumably petrochemical type insulations have increased in price a lot since then. Thanks

Thanks Ive used it, though the main drivers were damp issues in 1800's house, and minimising build up depth. Clearly with the amount i used, we were not achieving building reg level insulation. But, easy, definitely. Id consider it again, be it retrofit or new build.

Alan Ambrose Posted January 17 Posted January 17 >>> it needs to be much, much thicker This is my material crib-sheet. It suggests, that for the same U-Value, Foamglas needs to be twice as thick as, say, PIR. 1
