stephanh
G'day all I am considering whether or not to have a 250mm cavity wall insulated by contractor - blow in style. Has anyone any experience of this style of insulation? It may be an old fashioned view, but I seem to remember people not having good things to say about the system. JohnMo
Is 250mm the total wall thickness? If so you are only talking adding 50mm? If you are blowing in insulation think towards EPS beads, these will be tolerant of wet getting in the cavity and self drain it away. They will also move easily to fill the whole space. stephanh
Yes the cavity is 50mm - not had it surveyed therefore do not know how clean it is. If EPS beads used, do they stay loose or is there any 'glue' injected as well? I am thinking of any possible future breaking into the wall and subsequent spill of beads

Redbeard
If they are bonded don't expect it to be perfect. We still lost lots when we 'pocketted' the ridge-beams for our extension. Ideally it ought to 'agglomerate' the beads in lumps.
