a media socket dongle that will accept a PoE wire and output as a USB C female socket? thanks

How about a wired RJ45 female face plate into which you insert this:

Wrong technology. That won't work to provide power I'm afraid.

@markharro Can I ask what it's to be used for? That might help narrow down the right solution/technology.

Thanks - @garrymartin the idea is to power an always on ipad or similar tablet to be used for smarthome controlling etc. Then I also have a couple of low power temp sensors and reader display which are powered via USB C

Gotcha. Let me find something appropriate

If you want a really slick, integrated solution, you could look at something like https://displine.uk/products/displine-poe-converter-22w

But if you're happy to have an adapter in the wall, you could use something as simple as this https://www.amazon.co.uk/DSLRKIT-Active-Splitter-Female-802-3af/dp/B073P7J1KR/ with an appropriate cable of your choice. It doesn't need to be a higher-powered quick charge (PD or similar) as your tablet will likely be permanently connected. If you're trying to do something without spending a fortune, and have or know someone with a 3D printer, there are also lots of 3D models for tablet wall holders on various sites.

Thanks yes this is the sort of thing. Not clear however how it would fit inside a standard UK wiring box but why so expensive!

I think this would power an Apple Homepod mini though so thats interesting.

Fits inside a 60mm Euro box, but no idea why they are so expensive.

Cheaper here: £54. Probably shipping and tax on top.  Same product though as far as I can tell.   https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006216842254.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.49.706fa3Spa3SpBs&algo_pvid=99a4c398-362c-4cad-8d1b-eba9e5600680&algo_exp_id=99a4c398-362c-4cad-8d1b-eba9e5600680-24&pdp_npi=4%40dis!GBP!106.78!53.39!!!135.75!67.88!%40210387dd17260731937254697eddc0!12000036322462749!sea!UK!889673203!X&curPageLogUid=KRqsJZNZNPs7&utparam-url=scene%3Asearch|query_from%3A

There's a lot of UK companies reselling stuff that we can get direct from AliExpress. I guess they offer a degree of quality assurance and convenience but sometimes the mark-up is fierce.
