gurnard5 Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 My roof has been found to be extremely rotten, after a gutter fell off. I live in a Victorian brick townhouse in a conservation area which DOESN'T have an article 4 directive, but one is coming which will remove pd rights. The house has heavy concrete tiles which my surveyor said may have contributed to historical movement. Without changing the structure of the roof, I'd like to get my roof tiles replaced with slate. Can I do this under pd, without the need for planning?

New Welsh? (Unless you live in Cumbria, perhaps)

Expand Would this not fall under Class C - Any other alteration to the roof of a dwellinghouse? Under this class there is no requirement to use similar materials and there is no restriction to being in a conservation area. 1

Class A covers rendering, cladding, etc… to the existing walls but re-roofing would appear to come under Class C. The OP would however require Building Regulations. 1
