scol
Hello All, First post so apologies if I do not set this out correctly. I would like to build a new single garage, wood framed and clad, approx 4.6M long x2.6M wide (this is the available space) to accomoidate a small/medium sized car. I want to build it in a similar style to the tool shed that I constructed off the side of our double garage back in 2017 rather than introduce a third type. I am planning the build at the moment but as usual, I am struggling with how to create a suitable base to build off of. Ideally I would like to retain the block paving for the garage floor but will probably end up having to level it because it drops away for drainage and needs to be level to accommodate a roller shutter door to match the other buildings. So my questions are as follows: Would I be better off levelling the block paving by dropping the level on the side next to the existing building or raising it on the other side. Actually I do not care if the garage floor itself is not level but the threshold needs to be in order for the door to close properly. For new side and rear, what would be the best way to create a base to build off of, the block paving edges that are there currently are not straight, level or firmly fixed so are definitely not suitable. Finally, I also have a question with regard to the roof. As I am trying to keep the cost under control, what would be the best roof option, the tool shed roof is Fibreglass but this time around I was thinking maybe either EPDM or corrigated metal. I plan to take it up tight under the gutter of the tool shed but have not given any thought as to how I would create a watertight join to the existing cladding so any idea on this would be really helpful. Photo attached to bring the questions to life (log store to be relocated and block paving to be cleaned/renovated). Many thanks Steve
Conor
Block paving wont be an adequate support for a building of that size. Remove it, compacted base, then you want a 100mm thick concrete slab that will act both as floor and foundation for the walls. Also give you the opportunity to make it a bit wider. What height will it be?

What height will it be? Many thanks for your advice, very helpful. It will be approx 2.3m high on the side that adjoins the existing building and a little less on the other side to create a suitable fall for the roof. jayc89
Sorry to hijack the thread. @scol those house bricks look very similar to mine, which I've struggled to source replacements for. Have you, by any chance, had any look finding any?
