vik2001
I have a block and beam floor with 100mm pir insulation. I need to install 2 radiators in that room. Was thinking how would the pipework to the rads be run over the insulation. Can you cut grooves in the insulation and place the pipework in here to the rads? Mr Punter
Yes you can run it through the insulation. Best not to have pipework joints apart from when you are coming up for the rads, so you may do the main runs in plastic and the tails in copper.
vik2001
I may have to have a joint when the pipe bends around the wall. What best to do in this situation for the joint?
Nickfromwales
Can you upload a sketch? Just a hand drawn sketch on a bit of A4 will do You should stay away from the perimeter by about 100-200mm, which will allow you to form long radius bends in plastic pipe (I favour Hep2o) to go around obstacles, and then when you need to rise vertically out of the insulation you just dig down and sweep the bend which avoids too tight a radius. Sleeve the pipe where it rises out of the insulation and through screed(?) so the pipe can have some movement.
