Hi all,

My name is Joe and I'm a carpenter in the process of the complete renovation of an 1920s end of terrace.

Plans are to insulate, extend to the rear and loft convert.. since the house has been completely gutted I think now will be the best time!

Have joined the forum as I have many questions... 😂

Thanks guys!

It sure is leaky at the moment haha!

The House still has the original slate roof without membrane, unfilled wall cavities without closers at eaves/window openings... single glazing.

Don't fall into the trap of just making the inside airtight.

You need to stop air bypassing the insulation.

Then worry about ventilation, MVHR is best and easy to fit when the place is empty.

MVHR is something I will need to do some reading up on.

Read up on how to make an old building airtight first, then the MVHR becomes simple, you may get away with dMVHR then.
