Hello, and, roof trouble.

Recommended Posts

Hi. I am in the wet SW of Cornwall. As my name suggests, lobster fisherman, boatbuilder, retired. Did this 1870 cottage up from near derelict in 1985. Been rectifying faults from builder friend ever since, from the inspection chamber one brick too small, to the roof tiles not quite covering the top of the wall. In 2005 got my Not Very Qualified 2 as CSCS chippy, when winter fishing got too tough for my age. Then realised how many things were wrong! Any old how, can I pick your brains straight off, for which I apologise. I did this low pitched tile roof over a porch, fibre cement 200x400 tiles, 16degs. 35 years on have leaks and rotten battens. I am going to strip it. Remove tight membrane. Install slack membrane. Battens on rafters, cross battens. The question is about using one of the low pitch roof products by Permavent. There is the rubber gasket under the tile edge, expensive, or the plastic metre long x 220mm along the battens, not so deep. Or  is it possible to simply cut a 400mm strip of membrane and fit it under each row of tiles? Thanks for looking, any help appreciated.

Hi. You are most welcome. Other Corns will be along drekly. 😑

You are more likely to get an answer to your question if you post in the roofing section  here . ( Because there'll be others who have ( or have had ) the same issue.

Just copy and paste the question bit of this post into that thread on the site.

Any images or diagrams ( or product images)  you make ( photograph them) and put on here will help us help you.
