Velux windows and flies

I’ve noticed flies gathering underneath the window flashing and settling on the window surround. I’ve googled this and it seems common enough. It’s only happening with the top hung windows. The one centre pivot we have is made differently and there’s no evidence of it so far. I’ve bought some insect repellent spray to help discourage them. Anyone else noticed this?

Are these sheltering in the crevices? Dopy and don't fly away unless chased? Look up cluster flies.

Spraying the area keeps most from returning.

Yep. Definitely cluster flies. Seems a poor window design if they can get under the alu cladding.

It's what they are noted for. If they can't do that, they're not proper cluster flies.

In case anyone has a similar problem. I bought this stuff and wiped it around the inside of the frame and the underside of the cladding and it seems to have worked.
