TC101 Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 Currently having an extension built & plan to have 3 pane sliding doors. Building reg part L doc states these sliding doors must have a U value of 1.4 W/m2k Very few on the market have this U value, most are around 1.6-1.9 W/m2k....but regs appear to state 1.4 W/m2k U value or C energy rating. I've seen a lot of people have these sliding doors- So do they not comply with regs or they comply as its a C rated door? Any feedback appreciated.
PNAmble Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 What are the dimensions Of the opening s. We looked at a three piece 6meter (each panel 2 meters) triple rail with our build which is passiv standards. In the end the cost and Part O meant we tweaked our plans. But there were a few suppliers who got down to 1.0 and then Cero III doors which got lower but cost was too high for us to consider.
nod Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 BC understand this and will let it slide So to speak We have three sets 1.6
TC101 Posted August 16, 2023 Author Posted August 16, 2023 Only 3.1m openings so nothing major. Bifolds have a better U value but we don’t want those.
LiamJones Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 You can offset lower performing glazing with higher performing glazing. E.g a 5m2 door 0.2 under notional with 10m2 of windows 0.1 above notional.
