RookieInBristol Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 (edited) Hi everyone, Just embarking on a self build project on the outskirts of Bristol. I’ve been looking into Nuspan as a cost and time efficient alternative to an insulated raft + floor build up. We’d lay ufh and a screed on top. They quoted ~£100/m2 plus £4k for complete installation onto pre-built strip foundations. This seems a no brainer? Am I missing something? I’d appreciate perspectives from anyone who chose Nuspan or a similar system, or has some knowledge in this area. Thanks! Josh Edited August 14, 2023 by RookieInBristol Grammar
MR10 Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 Sorry, I don't know anything about Nuspan but are you sure it's a cost saving alternative to insulated raft if you have to install strip foundations beforehand? Or is this a suspended prefab floor system? Have you worked out the cost for strip foundation + Nuspan versus insulated raft for your total floor area?

I see that this system has the insulation bonded under it. What thickness insulation for £100? Is it structurally complete or does it need more concrete on top. How far does it span as quoted? It is certainly a quick and clean way of suddenly having a floor. Do they include craning and is solid access avaliable? Is there a reason for a suspended floor?
SteamyTea Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 (edited) They are 375mm deep and claim a U Vale of 0.14, down to 0.11. Edited August 14, 2023 by SteamyTea
