Valinor
I was wondering why people go for Soundbloc, considering Duraline has a higher mass at the same thickness /m2. Does anyone know why someone would prefer Soundbloc for soundproofing? Am I missing something? Duraline 14.1kg/m2 Soundbloc 13kg/m2
Valinor
For anyone else interested in this, I ended up calling Gyproc and spoke to their technical team - with them saying that technically Duraline is the better product acoustically. Interesting. I wonder why they even make Soundbloc..
saveasteading
I'm not checking, but I'd expect they have done formal tests for the acoustic stuff but not the other. So it gets specified and they can sell it , prob at a premium. I'm only guessing, so perhaps cynicism is prevailing. Of course an Engineer at the head office will only tell the facts, and isn't marketing. I believe build quality to be crucial in acoustic walls..so buy what you like but do it very well. ADLIan
I doubt the difference in density or mass/m2 makes much difference acoustically. I thought duraline was just more robust for heavily trafficked areas
