Phonotherm 200

Hi,

Engineer has speced 25mm thick phonotherm 200 for the thresholds of the doors to create a thermal break. Had to look up product and see its just like a piece of wood so my question is this, how is that fixed to the concrete in an insulated raft. I see that the upstands need to be recessed to accommodate the board.  Could it be as simple as sinking several long screws in back of board to set in the concrete?

I take it your threshold is over the EPS upstand? and the suggestion is to recess the EPS and lay the Phonotherm over to spread the load?

I used a GRP "L" profile, and yes, added screws to the "L" Pofile that were then captured in the slab when poured. Like this:

Thanks @IanR

The threshold is indeed over the EPS upstand but just looking at the drawing, see attached, the width at the top of the upstand is only 50mm in comparison to that in your drawing. The GRP L profile  looks the same job just different material, though it comes in 3m lenghts which maybe cheaper than having to buy two lengths of phonotherm as i only see it in 2.4m lengths.20230213_171036.thumb.jpg.ffd14b2ab316f89d8dd503ac8f3669a5.jpg

Looks to me that with the narrow 50mm of EPS under the threshold, yours would benefit from the higher U Value that I assume Phonotherm has, over GRP, to minimise the thermal bridge. Your EPS former also angles down at 45° on its inner wall, from the threshold, so an L profile would leave a small void. I'd stay as specified.

Assuming it needs to be in place before the pour, I guess it needs sticking to the EPS to stop it floating away?

Can I ask whose raft that is?
