Bobby23 Posted February 12, 2023 Share Posted February 12, 2023 Hi I have unblocked the fireplace in my first floor flat to use as a decorative space with an electric stove heater in iv got to the lintel but would like to widen it so I can fit in a 25inch wide stove heater at the moment it’s 22inches wide and not sure what way to go from here. there were grey blocks filling the gap and whoever did it used 2 lengths of copper pipe to hold them up which iv took out now. the plate for flue looks like it’s intergrated onto the concrete lintel too which iv not seen. It has to be supported at both ends by at least 100mm so needs to be at least 35 inches (890mm) wide central over the new opening.
