Hi thanks for your help so shall I get a 100x65 lintel ? Take out the left side where the bricks are over hanging ? the lintel that is in there now seems to be the plate and lintel in one should I have to get a new plate ?

Hi all yes I think I could get a 100x65 lintel in there as the fireplace is in a wall and don’t seem to have the alcove each side. My kitchen is behind the back of the recess mill see if I can post a video of it for you

Hi I have unblocked the fireplace in my first floor flat to use as a decorative space with an electric stove heater in iv got to the lintel but would like to widen it so I can fit in a 25inch wide stove heater at the moment it’s 22inches wide and not sure what way to go from here. there were grey blocks filling the gap and whoever did it used 2 lengths of copper pipe to hold them up which iv took out now. the plate for flue looks like it’s intergrated onto the concrete lintel too which iv not seen. Anybody can help with a wayforward that would be great thanks
