Post and beam
I am beginning to gather info on my potential house build. I believe i need about 7500 bricks. Bear in mind that i dont know what i am doing though. As a guide to quantities the house is 200 sq M and 14.5 metres wide. Location is north Hertfordshire. eandg
Rough guide here. You'll be anywhere between 50p and £1.50 a brick depending on what you want (common bricks through to handmade). Not knowing labour costs in your area budget for £1 per brick laid (N.B. usually costed to include the openings, so maybe 20% more or £9k). Plus then £800-1200 for ancillaries (lintels, dpc, weep vents, sand, cement).

Canski
I am a brickie and that sounds about right. Ive not measured anything today yet so if you gave me the dims or a ground floor plan and also ground floor window and door sizes I can have a quick look for you. Are they herringbone panels on the front ?

Are they herringbone panels on the front ? Hi Canski, Yes herringbone. The one on the far right has been deleted. The kind of costings i am looking for are for the quantities of bricks and price to lay them. Not for supply, unless that turns out to be the right way to go. Canski
Well done ! I make it 6959 at a rough guess add 5% cutting and waste gives you 7307. I'm sure you're aware that your ground floor plan doesn't match your elevations ? @eandgis about right with pricing for my area. The TF company made some choices of their own regarding where and what size we might want windows. There may well be a few more minor alterations as well. Your number is very precise. I guess you noticed the 'plinth' bricks. So if i can get bricks delivered kerb side Inc Vat @ £1.20 each and then that much again for the fit i should have a reasonable price guide for this part of the job. By the way there is a huge inglenook as well.
Canski
I missed the plinth that would be a small extra lin m rate but should be covered in previous rates. Add the inglenook bricks to my calcs. Zero rated VAT on new housing.
Post and beam
Thanks dude. Your help is duly noted. I mentioned the location of the plot for a reason.
