Mike d74
I had a new roof installed 12 months ago. The bottom ridge tiles keep dislodging (see photo). The roofing company have been out twice to re attach them but they have dislodged again. Despite several promises to come and fix again over the last 6 weeks they haven't been. Could I fix this myself? Why do they keep dislodging?
ProDave
We need a picture of the very left hand end of that slipped tile to see what is there. e.g. is there a hip iron?
Mike d74
There is nothing there. The tile is currently resting on the gutter. Last time the roofer came and re attached it they filled the end of the ridge tile with mortar but it has slipped again
Mike d74
Here is a photo just after the roof was finished showing the same bottom ridge tile that has dislodged
ProDave
Here is what a hip iron looks like And this is where it goes, you attach it to the roof structure before the last two hip tiles go on. The bit that sticks up stops the hip tiles sliding down. Tell your roofer to trundle down to toolstation and buy them, https://www.toolstation.com/scroll-hip-iron/p33398 Read the Ladybird book of how to tile a hip, then come back and do the job properly. Mike d74
Thanks for that. Might have to do it myself though as the roofer is ignoring me
