ADringer
Hi, I might be imagining things that don't exist, but thought I'd ask! I've got an ASHP (Ecodan) and I've just had UFH installed in addition. Currently the pumps on the manifolds turn on when the rooms call for heat, but this is completely disconnected from when the ASHP is actually running. From looking at the manual for the Ecodan, I could be able to wire up the manifold pump to one of the outputs on the ASHP. I'd use the rooms as temperature limiters so the loops are pretty much always open. That way when the Ecodan turns on it will also turn on the manifold pump and they will run in unison. My issue is that one of the manifolds is upstairs and will be pretty tricky getting a wire from the ASHP to upstairs. Are there any products I can use to stop/start the pump on the upstairs manifold wirelessly when the ASHP sends an output? Thanks Alex

What tells the ecodan to turn on? You have a central stat as well as room stats? Normally you'd have the ufh wiring center call the ASHP to turn on when 1 (or N) rooms are calling for heat. Anyway you have the same wireless requirement either way. A pair of Shelly devices would do it. i4 for input and the plus 1 for output https://shellystore.co.uk/product/shelly-plus-i4/ https://shellystore.co.uk/product/shelly-plus-1/

Yeah I have a central thermostat that turns it on. But don't want the rooms to control it as could get one room running at a time and short cycling. Plus for things like Octopus Agile I'd like to control it from one place - otherwise I'll have to go round each room thermostat every time it changes. Thanks or get smart thermostats like those made by Tado. I can either control it in the room, like an old fashioned dumb thermostat (even with no internet) or i can load the app on my phone or my pc and control everything from there, including timetabling routines on different days, copying a routine from one day to another or from one thermostat to another. It also logs the temperature and humidity in each room that the thermostat is installed, and can do smart things like switch off automatically if someone opens a window/door or incorprorate heat up times into the routines using machine learning to gauge how long it takes to heat a room.
