JCGD Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Hello, new to this forum. We recently just moved into our forever home. Bungalow was built in 1982 and has had a few extensions through the 90s. All ceilings are smooth apart from the hall. Does this look like artex? Was wondering if it’s worth getting a survey done.
Conor Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Are you planning on pulling it down? If not, forget about it, it's not a risk. Looks more like textured rolled plaster. Just scrape a sample off and send it off for testing.
Spreadsheetman Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Yes, could well be Artex, but it’s very hard to know by just looking at it. I’d have a sample taken and tested so you know what you are dealing with.

Over the next few years we will be doing work to the property, probably will replace lights etc in the hall, so probably worth getting it tested then.
JCGD Posted October 19, 2022 Author Posted October 19, 2022 FWIW, we got a home buyers report done prior to purchase and nothing was flagged, maybe just being paranoid?
TonyT Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Asbestos was added to everything back in the day. best thing ever invented they said. 82 is 17 years before they got round to banning it in construction, sure it was 1999.
