Rowly13
Hi, I've been lurking and gathering information for our house for a while. We're finally getting onto the plumbing stage and I've always used a mix of copper and JG speedfit on previous houses. Read lots on here about how hep2o is the best thing since beer and had the pleasure of using it a couple of times recently. Decided I'm going to spend the extra and go the hep2o route, I like the fact you need a tool, albeit a minimalistic one to disconnect any fittings. I'm probably going to go the manifold route, the only thing I'm struggling with is I've always liked to change my Flexi tap hoses every 5 years or so. I don't trust them after seeing a mate having one flood his kitchen. The standard ones that comes with taps seem to have the 1/2" thread and rubber flat washer. It seems however when I get replacements I can only ever seen to find compression fitting or push fit. Ideally I'd like to find branded wras approved ones like the originals but always struggle. If my replacements went down the push fit route would a piece of plastic pipe take repeated connection and disconnection with a new fitting over the years. I've seen copper turn green under the grab ring when removed after years and I know plastic wouldn't suffer this problem but would the grab rings keep gripping the used pipe time and time again. The other option I had thought about was fitting 1/2" BSP wall plates for each connection and then using a hep2o brass 15mm to 1/2" stub to connect the push fit Flexi onto, when replacement time comes, if the stub seems corroded I can easily change it out. Or if it's new tap time, use a 1/2" nipple with a flat face and use the supplied tap tails. I know I'm probably really overthinking this, but I love future proofing in my own property and simplicity when replacement time comes. Thanks. Iceverge
Would you consider a floor drain with an airless trap under the kitchen sink and in all wet rooms and not bother with changing the Flexi tails? It'd cover all situations, leaking dishwashers, tap, pipe, UVC, Kids flooding the bathroom. Its one of those "I wish I had" items.
Rowly13
It's not something I'd gave a thought. Definitely going to give it some research now you've mentioned it though.
pilgrim
Ive just bought the hep2o tap tails, they should be ok to remove and replace without damaging the pipe, if you really feel the need to change every few years. https://www.travisperkins.co.uk/push-fit-hoses/hep2o-flexible-tap-connector-15mm-x-12in-x-300mm-length-hd125a15w/p/616869
