Radian
Not rained here since June (and then less than 20mm). So the lawn is shrinking back from paths and patios. This bit is especially disappointing as I spent ages neatly re-turfing up to the new patio shown... So the question is: should I leave it or fill the gaps with sand/soil mix? I'm concerned that the gap will lead to further drying out and eventually affect the strip foundation below the stone perimeter - but then again what would happen if it ever rains again? Would filling it now make it heave when wet?
TonyT
I would go for the 50/50 mix and not worry about heave the sand will help drainage I’ve been patching grass with this mix for the past 4 weeks..

I've been levelling using sharp sand (because I had some left over) and soil. Is there any particular sand that's recommended?
TonyT
Local green keepers near me have 3 types of sand that they buy in, in 40 tonne loads but I just used sharp sand and soil like you cause I had it anyway and have no problems, I lifted the cut of the mover too to let the grass establish.
