Barn renovation/restoration

Hello my name is Lee. I am renovating a barn to use as a work studio. I consider myself pretty handy but have never taken on anything as big as this before.

The actual structure seems pretty sturdy and functions well as a barn we only really get a few weeks a year below zero. I know many people will think it wold be easier to re-roof but I quite like the look of the raw tiles.

I will start with the top floor. my list of jobs are as follows.

1. Replace missing tiles on the roof.

2. Fix or replace any damaged floorboards.

3. Insulate the walls from the inside.

4. insulate the floor and lay a polyvinyl flooring.

5. Insulate the roof tiles from the inside (horse hair / Lyme torching).

6. Simple electrics led lights and a couple of plug sockets.

7. Simple solar installation either on the roof or static somewhere in the surrounding garden.

8.  Perhaps replace one wall with clear corrugated fibreglass.

Then start on the lower part of the barn. I will comb through the forums for relevant info. Any tips or links would be greatly appreciated. This will not be a living space but I would like it to be a comfortable and safe work area.

Strange looking barn that. What’s was it built for do you know ? . Are you in the UK?

The previous owners and I guess many generations had horses / donkeys in the lower and hay / storage in the upper part.
